Trucking Cares Foundation Donates $5,000 to Support Texas Flood Victims
Washington—The Trucking Cares Foundation, the trucking industry’s charitable arm, donated $5,000 to the West Kerr Public School Foundation to help the organization support the district’s teachers and counselors who were impacted by the catastrophic flood in Texas Hill Country. The contribution was made on behalf of H-E-B, the 2025 recipient of the John Lex Premier Achievement Award.
“Immediately after the Texas Hill Country was struck by catastrophic flooding last summer, H-E-B sprang into action, delivering aid with impressive speed to those in need,’” said TCF Chairman Greg Owen, head coach of Ability Tri-Modal. “H-E-B has deep roots in this community that date back over a century. That commitment was on display when the Trucking Cares Foundation offered to make a donation on behalf of H-E-B, and the company immediately chose the West Kerr Public School Foundation to meet the school district’s ongoing healing needs. We applaud H-E-B and its employees for their selflessness, passion, and dedication to deliver hope where it is needed most.”
“The West Kerr Public School Foundation is deeply grateful for this generous support from the Trucking Cares Foundation and H-E-B,” said Bridget Symm, Executive Director. “Our teachers, counselors, and students are still working through the long-term impacts of the flood, and this gift brings immediate encouragement and help where it is needed most. We are honored to be part of this recovery effort and are truly appreciative of this partnership.”
“We are grateful to the Trucking Cares Foundation for this honor and for their support of the many educators and students impacted by the devastating floods,” said Tood Wright, Senior Vice President of Transportation & Logistics. “While many communities are still in the recovery and rebuilding stage, H-E-B remains deeply committed to continue supporting our fellow Texans when they need us most.”
“For many years, H-E-B has been such an integral partner to the Texas Trucking Association and the State of Texas in all things related to trucking,” said John Esparza, President & CEO of the Texas Trucking Association. “This is a well-deserved recognition for H-E-B, and I thank TCF and H-E-B for their generosity to Kerr County.”
In the early morning hours of Independence Day in 2025, Central Texas was hit with a deluge of rainfall, triggering catastrophic flash flooding that claimed the lives of at least 135 people. The disaster response team from Texas-based retailer H-E-B swiftly deployed to multiple disaster relief sites in and around Central Texas to distribute water, ice, snacks, cleaning kits, gift cards, shelter support, and even a Mobile Kitchen to serve hot meals staffed by H-E-B partners. Immediately following the floods, the Butt family, H-E-B, and the H.E. Butt Foundation committed $5 million to help fund nonprofits providing aid and recovery support to communities most in need and H-E-B continues to provide additional support as part of their long-term recovery efforts
