Trucking Cares Foundation Donates $10,000 to Support Disaster Relief

Washington—The Trucking Cares Foundation, the trucking industry’s charitable arm, donated $10,000 to the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) to support the organization’s leadership in delivering humanitarian aid to areas affected by disasters.

“When hurricanes cause flooding in the east, wildfires cause devastation in the west, or another disaster strikes the heartland, America turns to truckers, the only members of the transportation industry who have the capability to bring relief supplies directly where they are needed most,” said TCF Chairman Greg Owen, head coach of Ability Tri-Modal.  “ALAN harnesses the unparalleled logistical skill of the trucking industry to ensure humanitarian responses are efficient and effective.  The Trucking Cares Foundation is proud to support ALAN’s mission to help our neighbors get back on their feet and recover in the wake of catastrophes."

“The trucking community is always quick to offer assistance when disasters strike, and we’re incredibly grateful to the Trucking Cares Foundation for their support of our work," said Kathy Fulton, executive director of ALAN.  "When we all work together, disaster survivors get the resources they need, when and where they need them. That’s the power of resilient disaster relief.”

ALAN was born out of the need created by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when contributions of food, water, medicine, and other key necessities faced difficulties reaching survivors.  This industry-wide organization exists to provide supply chain assistance to humanitarian organizations whenever disasters hit, all with the help of numerous members of the logistics community who have agreed to make essential donations of transportation, warehousing, material equipment, or expertise.
